Hope and Healing with ProjectMendLLC

Isaiah "Zay" Bisset, LPC-S

I use therapeutic tools to help people figure out what they actually want—and then build the life to match.

For over a decade, I've worked with people navigating some of the most complex, high-stakes situations imaginable. Forensic evaluations. Crisis intervention. Behavioral health disorder treatment. Criminal justice involvement. Professional burnout. Existential questions about meaning and purpose. What I've learned from all of it: People aren't problems to be fixed. You're already capable and resourceful. You just need clarity, strategy, and someone willing to do the real work alongside you.

That's what I do. I help you cut through the noise, identify what genuinely matters to you, and create intentional movement toward the life you want—not the one you think you're supposed to want.

The Professional Stuff

I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology and am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas. Over the past 10+ years, I've built extensive experience across clinical  psychology and counseling, including:

Forensic psychology - Conducting psychological assessments and authoring forensic evaluations for individuals involved in the felony criminal justice system.

Crisis intervention - Lethality assessment, crisis response, and training in evidence-based approaches like CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality).

Formal assessment - Neurocognitive evaluation, personality assessment, and comprehensive psychological testing.

Substance use disorder treatment - I have directly worked with individuals navigating recovery, as well as supervised clinical staff at a 300-bed residential treatment facility.

Behavioral health - Extensive work across the full spectrum of mental health concerns.

Trainings - Large and small group trainings on topics from behavioral health 101 to neuro-cognitive hacks for cooperative leadership.

No Silos. No Labels. Just People.

I don't view people through the narrow lens of diagnosis or pathology. I understand behavioral health disorders, trauma responses, and clinical frameworks—that knowledge informs my work. But you're not a diagnosis. You're a person with a history, values, strengths, and goals.

Some therapists want to spend years unpacking your childhood. Others focus exclusively on symptom management. I'm interested in something different: Who are you? What do you want? What's stopping you? And how do we close that gap?

This approach is practical, skills-focused, and oriented toward results. We work on executive functioning, role clarification, values alignment, and intentional action. We address whatever needs addressing—trauma, patterns, beliefs, behaviors—but always in service of moving you forward.

Experience in Complexity

I've worked with people facing:

Professional burnout and career crises

Legal system involvement and forensic evaluations

Substance use and recovery

Trauma and its aftermath

Life transitions and identity shifts

Existential questions about meaning and purpose

High-stakes decision-making under pressure

This background means I don't get rattled easily. Whatever you're facing, we can work with it.

A Human-Centered Approach

Therapy language can be condescending. "You deserve to heal." "Let me hold space for you." "You're so brave for seeking help."

Here's what I know: You're an intelligent, capable adult who's trying to navigate a complex life. You don't need someone to rescue you. If I were to guess, not only do you not need someone to rescue you, but, by the measures we are often ingrained to use, you are extremely successful. (...all the elementary school assemblies and college advisors forgot to mention successful does not guarantee happiness, or peace...)

You need a skilled partner who respects your intelligence, challenges you when necessary, and helps you build the clarity and skills to create the life you want.

An Evolving Practice

Project Mend started as a traditional counseling practice, but it's evolving into something bigger. I'm developing immersive land-based retreat experiences that combine counseling, wilderness wellness, and intensive transformation work.

Why? Because some growth requires more than weekly 50-minute sessions allow. Sometimes you need to step away from your routine, get out of your head, and engage with the work in a deeper, more embodied way.

The retreats are still in development, but if that resonates with you, let's talk. I'm building this based on what people actually need, not just what the traditional therapy model offers. In addition to an LPC-S, I'm a sylvotherapy wilderness wellness guide and geobiology practitioner.

Selina

Selina Maldonado, M.A., LPC, NCC, is a compassionate licensed professional counselor whose presence is both grounding and deeply affirming. With specialized training in trauma recovery, addiction, family dynamics, and LGBTQIA+ care, Selina brings a warm, holistic approach to healing—one that honors the complexities of each person’s story with reverence and curiosity.

Rooted in both clinical expertise and lived experience, Selina’s work bridges evidence-based modalities like psychodynamic therapy and CBT with intuitive, client-centered care. She holds space for the tender, often messy process of becoming—meeting clients with honesty, non-judgment, and a fierce respect for their autonomy.

Selina is especially attuned to individuals navigating identity shifts, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. Her therapeutic style invites clients to slow down, reconnect with their inner wisdom, and move toward healing at a pace that feels true. Whether guiding one-on-one sessions or supporting someone through deep grief, she offers a steady, affirming presence that says: you are already whole—and you are welcome here, exactly as you are.

At the heart of her work is the belief that therapy isn’t about fixing—it’s about remembering who you are beneath the survival strategies, the stories, and the silence. Selina walks alongside her clients as they reclaim their voice, reconnect with their truth, and step more fully into the life they were meant to live.
